Philosophy
and General Information
Wolfpak is for the serious athlete who has decided to make
running & biking their primary or only sport.
For continued membership, attendance at practices and races
is required. Strong work habits with an enthusiastic, teachable
attitude are mandatory.
We are striving to excel as a team and as individual athletes.
Wolfpak is about raising standards. Please consider the following
concepts, which need to be understood and accepted.
- The first concept is the "no excuse" policy.
Since we are training to compete, what excuses are acceptable
at a race? That's right. None. So what excuses should be
acceptable at a practice?
- The second concept is "equal opportunity, but not
equal time" (the fairness policy). The coach will spend
more time with certain athletes depending upon their needs
and consistency. Some might perceive this as playing favorites,
but those athletes who get more attention have convinced
the coach, by their work habits, that they deserve that
extra attention.
- The third concept is similar to the second. Only worry
about yourself. Please be concerned about your own work
habits, attitude and time-spent training; not your neighbor's.
- Concept number four is; we will spend more time training
than racing. The calendar of practice, workouts, and races
must be a priority. We are training and racing to provide
that inner satisfaction that comes from doing our best.
The combination of skill, strength, speed, and guts is what
we strive for.
- Concept number five; when it comes to racing, we are
not an "either or" team. We race against our competition
and ourselves. Personal improvement and winning races are
(both) stressed. This requires work, dedication, and sacrifice.
